Myth-Buster

 

Did you know that German Chocolate Cake is not German, but American?  It was the result of a call  by the Baker Company of Massachusetts for a new type of chocolate invented by Sam German (a Brit).  His German's Chocolate Bar was preferred in baking for it's sweet richness.  The Cake was attributted to a homemaker in Texas.  But, odd fact, she couldn't make it if it wasn't for a German invention -- evaporated milk, developed for Nestle.

Festivals

Germans like to celebrate.  Their most famous Festival is Octoberfest, which starts in September and ends the first week of October.  It was originally a celebration of a wedding. But, that is just the tip of the iceberg, virtually every week of every month, some town somewhere is celebrating something in Germany.

Embarrassments

While many of our words are taken from the German and are identical or very close to that orgin.  There are many words that are common in each others language that when used in the others country could prove embarassing....want to know what not to say?
